Resume Article

After Reading the article about resumes on blackboard gave me a better understanding of where resumes came from and why there are so many different styles of formats. I feel resumes are important because for an employer to look at a stack of resumes the employer can only make a decision based off the information and experiences based off the resume and cover letter. Resumes are an excellent way to list out all of your accomplishments and organizations that someone is or was involved in.  I also think that resumes should all be different and the writer should design his/her own resume.
To be honest I do not know how to link my cover letter and resume to this so I copied and pasted it. Sorry for the length.

Dr. Cleanman
Athletic Trainer Outpatient Clinic
Therapy Jobs Nationwide
Murray, Kentucky 42071

Dear Dr. Cleanman

Hello my name is Brittany Crockett and I recently graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training. Before returning to school for my Masters degree I would like to gain a few years of clinical work experience. I am 22 and live in Columbus, Ohio where I work for Hillsflow Retirement Home. This letter is to inform you of my interest in your Outpatient Clinic offer as an Athletic Trainer. I am a member of the NATA club and they have greatly influenced my desire to become an Athletic Trainer. With the help of their website, NATA.org, I was able to find several job offerings where I can contribute positively, and work towards my Master’s degree.

This job opportunity interests me because I am passionate about helping others and love sports. As an Ohio University graduate I have taken several classes that will assist me on this journey. The many labs and clinical hours enhanced my aspiration to become an Athletic Trainer and made this career more believable. The knowledge I earned in my undergraduate career proves me to be a great asset to your company. For three out of my four years at Ohio University I shadowed a certified Athletic Trainer via the local high schools; I assisted in many sports such as baseball, basketball and volleyball. Working with high school students provided me a different experience than the in-class activities I encountered before. I also served as an assistant for ICA teams, the sports teams from the college. Through ICA I was able to work with Ohio University’s Wrestling team for ten weeks, as well as the Football and Track and Field teams. Each sport improved my knowledge of the sport and the different injuries that can occur. Each sport demonstrated the wide range of education needed to fulfill the duties reflective of an Athletic Trainer. Leaving Ohio University I have a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training and have passed the NATABOC. Along with my college experiences during academic breaks I was employed at a retirement home. There I provided assistance with elderly residents taking vital signs, stretching, assigning special work out plans to keep residents active and keeping daily reports about the patients. Attached is my resume to justify the experiences I have accomplished.

I would love the opportunity to set up an interview time where I can come and talk with you and learn about the job opportunities and hiring plans. I will follow up with you in two weeks via email, with additional information if needed. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Brittany Crockett
